Annual Freedom Walk Huge Success
On September 11th, we gather to walk, commemorate, and honor those who gave their lives. Why do we do this? To insure the remembrance of, and honor the memory of those who gave their lives on September 11, 2001, to show our respect for the military, police, fire fighters, emergency medical personnel, and the many innocent citizens who were killed or injured in this unspeakable attack on our country. Crowds of over 600 gather in Lexington, Missouri to commemorate this day with a memorial walk, a wreath laying ceremony and the playing of taps. Organized by Post 60 Commander Jean Beyer, this event is a moving tribute for participants and observers alike. Thanks to the area firemen, policemen, clergy, medical personnel, members of the National Guard, students, scouts, city and county officials, and citizens of Lexington who helped to make this a resounding success. Be sure to mark your calendar for this year's event. |
