George Thomas Cullom Post 60, Lexington, MO
George Thomas Cullom Post 60, Lexington, MO
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, men and women, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide. Here in Lexington, The American Legion has been a part of Lexington community for many years. We were chartered in 1919, the same year the American Legion began, thus we are one of the oldest posts in the United States. We serve all those who have served in the military in this community and around the world. The Post 60 building, show below to the left, sits on an historic site. Lexington's first public school was located here.
