Who are we?
We are veterans of all branches of the military service, who have served our country during one or more of the American conflicts. We represent all walks of life in Lexington and support community programs throughout the year.
What does post 60 do?
Each year Post 60 places 152 American flags in front of 127 Lexington businesses on national holidays. This is our primary source of income. In addition, we assist businesses in lowering flags on their flagpoles on holidays. In addition, we place 160 small flags in the city's flower pots on corners in the downtown area for all holidays.
Each year Post 60 places flags on grave sites in local cemeteries on Memorial Day.
Each year Post 60, in conjunction with the Lexington Park Department, sponsors an Easter Egg Hunt for local children.
Each year Post 60 provides scholarships to Lexington high school students.
Each year Post 60 participates in multiple patriotic ceremonies in conjunction with veterans.
Each year, in conduction with the Chamber of Commerce, Post 60 organizes and conducts an annual Freedom Walk on Patriot Day.
Each year Post 60 participates in Lexington festivals, parades and civic gatherings.
Each year Post 60 provides The Lexington News with flag facts that appear in the paper .
Each year Post 60 provides periodic programs of interest during meeting nights.
Each year Post 60 sponsors and sends boys and girls to American Legion Boy's and Girl's State.
